Description: Our study revolves around the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for children who are victims of sexual abuse, which is considered one of the most dangerous psychological and physical phenomena due to the deep effects it leaves that may accompany the victim throughout their life. We attempted to shed light and break the silence surrounding such topics, increase awareness in society, and provide a kind of support and assistance to the victim. To clarify our hypothesis, we conducted interviews with the study cases who were subjected to sexual abuse and are located in the Girls’ Rehabilitation Center in Tiaret. Our study relied on the clinical approach based on semi-structured interviews, observation, case study, and the Davidson PTSD Scale, in addition to cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. The study sample consisted of two cases of sexually abused individuals who experienced post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms with varying severity due to the traumatic event they lived through. The age at which the rape occurred differed from one case to another: in the first case, the sexual abuse occurred at the age of 17, and in the second case, the individual is currently 15 years old and was sexually abused in her childhood, with both having been abused between the ages of 8 and 10. The results were positive and reflected in the reduction of PTSD symptoms and the improvement of psychological and social adjustment. This study highlights the urgent need to provide specialized and continuous psychological care for this group, along with the necessity of developing preventive and awareness programs to protect children from such dangerous violations.
