Abstract: In recent years, electricity demand has significantly expanded whereas the development of power generation and transmission has been severely curtailed due to limited resources and environmental constraints. As a result, some transmission cables are overburdened putting system stability at risk. One of the solutions is Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) technology. Therefore, this work focuses on the contribution of a FACTS device such as the GUPFC in lifting those limitations and constraints. On a multi-machine network, we assessed the tool's performance using an analogical and a fuzzy logic control configurations. Comparing these two control methods, our results shows that the GUPFC performs efficiently when controlled using fuzzy logic. In fact it proved to be very robust. The contribution of the GUPFC in maintaining stability turns out to be of great interest when the fault conditions are very severe
