| Résumé: | تتناول هذه الدراسة جانبًا من النشاط الفكري للنُخبة الجزائرية المُفرنسة خلال الفترة الممتدة بين 1891 و1959م، من خلال التركيز على شخصية شريف بن حبيلس باعتباره نموذجًا معبّرًا عن هذه الفئة. فقد تشكلت هذه النُخبة في ظل منظومة التعليم والثقافة الفرنسية، ما جعل أفرادها يعيشون حالة من التناقض بين التمسك بالهوية الوطنية من جهة، والرغبة في الاندماج داخل النظام الاستعماري من جهة أخرى. ويظهر هذا التردد بوضوح في مؤلف شريف بن حبيلس المعروف بـ "الجزائر الفرنسية كما يراها أحد الأهالي"، حيث عبّر فيه عن الرغبة في تحسين أوضاع الجزائريين، لكن من داخل المنظومة الفرنسية، دون أن يتبنى خطابًا ثوريًا أو معارضًا بشكل مباشر، وهذا يعكس موقفًا شائعًا لدى العديد من أفراد النُخبة المُفرنسة، الذين فضلوا أسلوب الإصلاح التدريجي بدلًا من المواجهة. ومن خلال تحليل هذه التجربة، يمكن فهم مواقف هذه النُخبة في سياقها التاريخي والاجتماعي، بعيدًا عن إصدار أحكام مسبقة، وهو ما يساعد على قراءة التحولات التي عرفها المجتمع الجزائري خلال الفترة الاستعمارية. وفي الأخير، فإنَّ استيعاب تناقضات هذه المرحلة لا يهدف فقط إلى معرفة الماضي، بل يساعدنا أيضًا على التفكير في الحاضر، وبناء نُخبة جديدة تحمل وعيًا وطنيًا حقيقيًّا، دون أن تقع في فخ التبعية أو الانعزال |
| Description: | This study explores an aspect of the intellectual activity of the French-educated Algerian elite during the period from 1891 to 1959, focusing on the figure of Cherif Ben Hbelès as a representative example of this group. This elite emerged within the framework of the French education and cultural system, which led its members to experience a state of contradiction between clinging to national identity on the one hand, and the desire to integrate into the colonial system on the other. This hesitation is clearly reflected in Chérif Benhabylès work, French Algeria as Seen by a Native, in which he expressed a desire to improve the conditions of Algerians, but from within the French system, without adopting a revolutionary or openly oppositional discourse. This reflects a common position among many members of the French-educated elite, who preferred a gradual reform approach rather than direct confrontation. By analyzing this experience, it becomes possible to understand the positions of this elite within their historical and social context, avoiding any premature judgment. This helps in reading the transformations that Algerian society underwent during the colonial period. In the end, understanding the contradictions of this phase does not aim solely at knowing the past, but also helps us reflect on the present and build a new elite with genuine national awareness, without falling into the trap of dependency or isolation. |
