Abstract: , The current research attempts to investigates the attitudes of EFL teachers and students towards the use of ChatGPT in academic writing at Ibn Khaldoun University of Tiaret. To achieve this, the research employs a mixed-methods approach, in which data were collected through student questionnaires and teacher interviews. The findings of the study reveal notable differences in attitudes between students and teachers. While students perceive ChatGPT positively, viewing it as a valuable tool for learning English, in general, and developing their writing skills, in particular, teachers express some concerns and reservations, regarding its use in academic writing. In the light of this, the research recommends the importance of considering both students and teachers perspectives when incorporating AI-chatboots tools like ChatGPT into language learning classes, because addressing both perspectives might facilitate the development of more effective pedagogical strategies for integrating AI-driven tools like ChatGPT in EFL academic writing instruction
