Abstract: It’s known that teachers who efficiently plan and manage their classrooms, assist students’ learning and reinforce their motivation and involvement in the teaching-learning process. This research attempts to investigate the efficiency of classroom management in helping shy learners and reducing stress. It aims at finding out whether classroom management affects students’ achievement and performance or not. We used a questionnaire and a classroom observation to accomplish this goal .Two forms of questionnaire used, the first questionnaire administered to first year students at Slimen Ben Hamza secondary school in Ain Dheb, the second one is submitted to their EFL teachers at the same school . Besides, the classroom observation was set in order to get more real and precise information on what is going on during the English session among first year students ; how they behave, interact and participate during the session and how well the teacher can control and manage the class. The hypotheses adopted in this study set out if teachers take into consideration the students’ psychological aspects while teaching , classroom interaction will be promoted and if they establish positive classroom management, they would achieve positive teaching-learning process . The results in this study showed that both teachers and students have positive attitudes towards classroom management and the psychological aspects affect to some extent students classroom interaction. Coming with these findings, we have proposed some padagogical recommendations for helping teachers effectively manage their classrooms, engage and motivate shy and non-shy students.
