Description: | The objective of our work is to assess the knowledge of practicing veterinarians regarding coccidiosis in broiler chickens through a questionnaire. Our study revealed that broiler chickens, specifically the Cobb 500 strain, were the species and strain most affected by coccidiosis. The age range of 3 to 5 weeks was the most susceptible to Eimeria infestation. The pathology was more frequent in winter (68.42%) among subjects raised in greenhouse buildings (89.5%) using wood shavings as litter. This study also showed that bloody diarrhea, hemorrhagic typhlitis, and petechiae were the most common lesions found during necropsy. The combination of preventive and curative treatment, with a percentage of 63.16%, was the most commonly used method of control by these veterinarians. Drinking water (52.63%) and the method of calculating the dosage (78.95%) were the most preferred administration routes among these veterinarians. |
