| Description: | This research presents a comprehensive study of the legal framework governing hazardous materials in Algeria, focusing on their definition, classification, risks, and the institutional and legal mechanisms regulating their management. It emphasizes the importance of establishing effective legislation to control the entire lifecycle of hazardous materials, from production to final disposal, especially amid increasing environmental and health challenges. The study also highlights Algeria’s adherence to international conventions as a tool for enhancing environmental protection, and addresses guiding principles such as the precautionary principle, the "polluter pays" principle, and shared responsibility. The findings indicate that real environmental protection requires effective enforcement of laws and coordinated efforts among national institutions. |
