| Description: | Geographical indications, as a form of industrial property right,are defined as a geographical name of a country ,region ,part of a region ,distrct , or a designated place ,which serves to identify a product originating from there .The quality and characteristics of the product are attributed to this specific geographical environment ,which includes both naturel and human factors that influence these goods and products. The Algerian legislator has provided protection for geographical indications through ordinance n :76/65 , which stipulates the existence ofbith substantive and formal legal conditions for granting legal protection .This protection results in legal consequences that allow the right holder to take action against third parties. Moreover ,Algeria has joined several international agreements - such as the paris; lisbon , and madrid agreements to ensure international protection. |
