Environnemental migration is one of the most important challenges facing the international community. International actors have been working to address this issue through a range of institutional and legal mechanisms, as well as various programs, plans, and strategies. Efforts are being made to coordinate actions at the international level and strengthen solidarity to mitigate the impacts of this phenomenon and plan for it, especially since developing countries are the most affected. The study also found that the international community is still hesitant to recognize environmental migration as a consequence of environmental change or as a solution to climate-induced vulnerability, despite providing humanitarian assistance to victims of natural disasters and climate change. The complexity of the phenomenon is further compounded by the failure of the current legal system to define the legal status and position of migrants in the context of environmental changes. The study also monitored and analyzed the most important international initiatives to protect this emerging group, despite their non-binding nature, towards establishing the foundations of legal protection for them, with the need to adopt the principles of sustainable development as a mechanism for adapting to the phenomenon of environmental migration in the face of climate change challenges.en_US
