Description: Our study aims to verify hypotheses in the field and to identify the main obstacles faced by working women at Ibn Khaldun University, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, Department of Sociology. The study seeks to understand the impact of social conditions and identify factors that help women balance their roles. It also aims to raise awareness among communities and individuals about the conflicts that working women may experience between their family and professional duties, in order to support them and mitigate the intensity of these conflicts. We used a purposive sample of 15 female professors to align with the qualitative nature of the study. The results indicate that working women in the Department of Sociology at Ibn Khaldun University face various challenges that hinder their performance, including family, professional, psychological, and health-related issues. The study also found that societal perceptions of working women have changed due to radical transformations in communities. Despite the social challenges, the work has positive impacts on women by fulfilling their material, social, and psychological motivations. A significant finding is the positive influence of good professional relationships and the flexible treatment from supervisors, which positively impacts job performance. Additionally, married working women benefit from relying on alternative elements in family tasks, which alleviates pressure and aids in balancing their roles.
