Abstract: The use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has revolutionized educational research with its authentic appeal. Recent research shows that female learners have lower ICT access and use than their male counterparts. Accordingly, this study aims to investigate the existence of gender gap in Algerian universities. To reach this aim, the research work at hand opts for a mixed method that combines quantitative and qualitative approaches using wellknown methodological techniques. A structured questionnaire is administered to ninety six first year EFL students at Ibn Khaldoun University and a semi structured interview directed to six teachers of English language at the same research setting. The findings of this research reveal that there is a gender gap that exists in ICT uptake in Algerian universities. This in fact may result in many barriers that EFL students encounter. This research ends up with recommendations and implications for further research
