| dc.description | Badji Mokhtar was a distinguished leader of the revolution who martyred at its uprising. He was born in Annaba on April 17 th , 1919. His family moved to Souk Ahras, where he obtained his primary school certificate and enrolled in secondary school. However, he didn’t continue his studies due to the racism and discrimination he was facing .He fought in the lines of the Islamic scouts and led the “fellah” troop; he was also one of the most active members of the people’s political party in the Souk Ahras. He ran for the local elections in 1947for the “Movement for the Triumph of Democratic Liberties”. After winning, he couldn’t tolerate working with the elected settlers, so he devoted himself to the struggle .He was appointed as a leader of the Souk Ahras branch to train the youth for the revolution, he was arrested, tortured, and sentenced to three years in prison in 1950. He continued his struggle after being released and strongly believed in the necessity of resorting to the military option. After joining The Revolutionary Committee of Unity and Action and attending its historic meeting of the 22, he supervised several military operations and was martyred on November 18 th , 1954; in an attack of French forces on a farm, he was present with a group of freedom fighters. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | باجي مختار من قادة الثورة البارزين الذين استشهدوا في بداية اندلاعها ولد في مدينة عنابة 17 أفريل 1917 موتربى في احضان عائلته المتواضعة ،إنتقلت عائلته إلى سوق أهراس تحصل على شهادة الإبتدائية والتحق بالثانوية لكنه لم يواصل دراسته بسبب معاناته للعنصرية والتفريقة ناضل في صفوف الكشافة الإسلامية وترأس فوج الفلاح بسوق أهراس ، وكان من أنشط عناصر حزب الشعب بمنطقة سوق أهراس ، ترشح في 1947 الإنتخابات البلدية ضمن قائمة حركة الإنتصار الحريات الديمقراطية فنجح في ذلك لكنه لم يطق العمل مع المنتخبين المستوطنين فتفرغ للنضال ، عين مسؤولا على فرع سوق أهراس لإعداد الشباب للثورة ، وفي سنة 1950 م ألقى عليه القبض وعذب وحكم عليه بثلاث سنوات وبعد الإفراج عنه واصل نضاله وكان من أشد المؤمنين بحتمية اللجوء إلى الخيار العسكري وانظم إلى اللجنة الثورية للوحدة والعمل ، وقد حضر إجتماع 22 التاريخي أشرف على تفجير عدة عمليات عسكرية واستشهد مبكرا في 18 نوفمبر 1954 م وذلك إثر هجوم القوات الفرنسية على المزرعة التي كان يتواجد بها رفقة عدد من المجاهدين. | en_US |
